Head of SME (international banking experience, strategy, thought leadership, drive business in Africa), Johannesburg, South Africa Introduction • Develop and manage the Business Banking Retail / SME proposition and segment across Africa and lead all the required activities to become the pre-eminent SME Bank across Africa • Own and deliver balance sheet, P&L and and advanced customer agenda for the segment. • Drive the development of business with new customers as well as deepen our share of wallet with existing customers Responsibilities • Realignment and optimising resource deployment to ensure sufficient focus on the Business Banking and SME segment – this involves strategy formulation & execution • Creating Business Banking segments and the relevant MI • Define the targeted sectors, prospect list and undertake an effective pipeline management process to ensure deal closure. • Focusing on driving liability growth in the SME segment • Target Buyer and supplier chains of Large Corporate clients as potential small or medium business clients • People Development & Management • Business management Requirements • Relevant tertiary qualification • Experience working in an international banking environment at senior level • Banking and Financial Services industry related knowledge • Strong track record of setting up franchises / segments and delivering results • Relevant knowledge and experience in banking specifically Business Banking and SME products and – preferably –experience of African business • Strong in thought leadership – someone with the capability of formulating and executing strategy in the short and long term • Executive experience with successful and relevant management experience • Demonstrated capacity to lead, coach, and supervise team members effectively • Matured and results-orientated • Visible excellent communication (written and verbal) and negotiation skills • Intimate knowledge of competitor skills and competencies • Proven capability to work with geographically widespread teams.
