Chief Investment Officer – Investment Company, Mozambique - Africa

CA Global Africa Recruitment is looking for a Chief Investment Officer for a specialist Investment Company. The role is to be based in Maputo

Overview:
The client is South Africa’s leading specialised investment group for small and medium enterprises. With the support of the International Finance Corporation and other Development Finance Institutions, they would like to establish the Mozambique SME Fund, a US$10.0 million investment fund for SMEs in Mozambique, together with a parallel US$ 1.5 million Technical Assistance Facility.

As part of this expansion the client is offering an exciting career opportunity for an individual with an entrepreneurial spirit, at its Maputo offices.

The Candidates key responsibilities include (but are not limited to);

- Implementing the operational aspects of the business plan for the Fund dedicated to investing in SMEs operating within the borders of Mozambique
- Marketing the clients investment solutions for the Fund and building sound relationships with clients and intermediaries
- Sourcing and structuring sound business deals to maximize returns and increase the number of SME’s profitably invested in by the Fund
- Managing the effectiveness and efficiency of the Fund, which would include monitoring investments and finally exiting thereof
- Leading and developing a small team of investment professionals
- Participating fully in the governance of the company

The Candidate must have;

- 5-8 years in an established corporate finance, investment management or private equity environment
- Financial tertiary qualification
- Preferably have completed management studies.
- The individual will be results focused, with a passion for client service, excellent communication skills, solid negotiation skills and a track record of excellent investment decision-making abilities.
- Hands-on deal-making, commercial experience in key investment sectors and management experience will be an advantage.
