Introduction
Its business focus is to provide Africa’s vast untapped retail financial markets with personal loans, savings products and insurance policies. This is a unique business model, focused on providing affordable financial services products to the lower end of the market, particularly in segments previously neglected by the traditional banking sector. Its business success is based on a model that revolves around product affordability, innovative design (to meet market needs), extensive use of technology (to meet client needs) and affordability on the part of clients.
Responsibilities
• Overall responsibility for the management and monitoring of the day-to-day activities and operations of the Group
• The focus of the COO will be on strategic, tactical and short-term operational management, which means he/she will also be responsible for the design, operation and improvement of the systems that create and deliver the Group’s products/services.
• Development, implementation and maintenance of the Group’s operating systems and related technical requirements.
• Design and implementation of operational procedures, as well as the documentation thereof.
• Ownership of software vendor relationships to ensure effective execution of deliverables.
• Interaction with the Group’s information technology department.
• Management of the daily operation (flows and systems) procedures within a clearly structured control environment.
• Management of the collection process so as to minimize the risk to the group capital.
• Establish and maintain relationships with salary deduction officers, government officials and IT department/s.
• Implement adherence with Group’s policies, regulations and rules.
• Improving levels of service to staff and customers and enhancing internal operational efficiencies.
• Ensure sufficient and suitable training of all pertinent areas of the business.
• Suitable and adequate documentation of all work performed.
Requirements
• Post graduate qualification in one or more of Finance, Economics, and/or Management.
• The company will only look at candidates who have no less than 10 years working experience.
• Extensive experience in the financial services sector, with specific consideration given to microfinance experience.
